Marie Catalano is a cultural worker whose practice encompasses exhibition making, writing, teaching, and gallery work in the interest of supporting art that enables dialogue about our current moment and allows us to imagine alternative pathways. Her writing has appeared in Flash Art, LA Review of Books, and Brooklyn Rail among other platforms. She has taught theory and writing as an adjunct professor in New York University's Studio Art Department. Previously she was a partner at JTT in New York where she worked for eight years. In 2023, Catalano received her MA in Art History from Hunter College where she produced a master’s thesis on Art Across the Park (1980 and 1982), an outdoor exhibition of ephemeral installations and performances in New York City parks conceived of by David Hammons. She was awarded a Pellom McDaniels Fellowship in 2022 in support of this research from the Stuart A. Rose Library at Emory University.
